I have always been a storyteller.

​

Even before I could write, I was drawing tales and reading my own bedtime stories. When I could write, I picked up a pen and never stopped.

​

My background in communications spans agency, corporate, nonprofit and media fields. I earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations from University of Florida, where I received the Florida Public Relations Association Award and Dean’s Cup for Scholarship. I cut my teeth in the ad-agency setting and now work full time as a freelance writer. My clients include marketing firms, corporate marketing departments, small businesses and startups.

As a content marketer, I always strive to find the story behind an organization. I believe the key to content marketing is to deliver a compelling narrative that speaks to customers at each stage of the buying journey.

A few fun things.

​

Along with content marketing, I love writing fiction, reading, karaoke and The Beatles (yes, Ringo Starr once gave me a head nod). I am an endless resource of pop-culture knowledge and take every opportunity to dress up in a silly costume.

April 2018 - present

CONTENT WRITER AND OWNER, J.LEGG COMMUNICATIONS LLC

  • Write, edit and plan a variety of strategy-driven content, including web copy, blogs, emails, newsletters and case studies

  • Lead social media initiatives for multiple clients, which involves planning social media and advertising strategy, developing content across several platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn), monitoring day-to-day social interactions, and using metrics to drive growth

  • Create powerful public relations strategy and tactics, such as news releases, media pitches and speeches, that coordinate with clients’ wider marketing initiatives

  • Developed marketing, communications and public relations initiatives for more than 15 agency clients, including external and internal communications for corporate, nonprofit and government organizations

  • Managed four social media accounts, including developing calendars, ad campaigns and evidence-based strategy

  • Wrote, managed the development of, and kept metrics for four new websites, including Daigle Creative’s site redesign

  • Served as project manager for four clients and wrote news releases that resulted in dozens of print, TV and radio hits

  • Crafted compelling stories for clients’ marketing materials, such as annual reports, brochures and newsletters

January 2015 - May 2015

PROGRAM ASSISANT, UF GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN FUNDRAISING MANAGEMENT

  • Worked with Professor Kathleen Kelly to recruit students for UF’s new graduate fundraising certificate program

  • Wrote content for the website and a news release that resulted in six news stories

June 2014 - May 2015

CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS INTERN, GAINESVILLE REGIONAL UTILITIES

  • Engaged GRU’s more than 800 employees by writing content for its intranet and internal email system

  • Wrote and edited articles for Insight, GRU’s customer newsletter that reaches 93,000 residents

  • Developed a website for the new Sweetwater Wetlands Park and planned a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the park

August 2013 - May 2014

CONTRIBUTING WRITER, THE INDEPENDENT FLORIDA ALLIGATOR

  • Pitched and published stories in University of Florida's student-run newspaper

May - August 2013

MARKETING COORDINATOR,  BREVARD AND VOLUSIA CATHOLIC SCHOOLS

  • Wrote and helped design brochures for seven schools, which were then used as a primary marketing tool

  • Crafted updates and content for two Facebook sites, resulting in an increase of 100+ followers

  • Revised and added content to Brevard and Volusia Catholic WordPress website
